RURAL & URBAN AGRICULTURE INNIVATIVE PRODUCTION PROGRAM

Hunter's Agri-food Production

Agriculture is also crucial to economic growth: accounting for 4% of global gross domestic product (GDP) and in some least developing countries, it can account for more than 25% of GDP. Hunter's Global Network works with investors, farmers, and processors to create a Global sustainable food system.  Agricultural production's success involves economic analysis of production relationships and principles of rational decision-making to optimize the use of farm resources on individual farms as well as to rationalize the use of farm inputs from the point of view of the entire economy. This helps in knowing how much land is required and what products and economic benefits it will give to the farming community. We use a social culture approach in winning with the farming communities.

Below is a list of activities we focus on in working with rural and urban farming communities across the world, we aim to promote rural development where we will assist rural communities in starting viable farming projects and setting up rural based processing industries as well as export zones.

Potato Production

Potatoes are value chain development crop used for several industrial purposes such as for the production of starch and alcohol. Potato starch (farina) is used in laundries and for sizing yarn in textile mills. Potatoes are also used for the production of dextrin and glucose, the build economies

Rice

Rice is the major food of half of the world's population. Particularly in the eastern hemisphere, it is the staple food. Worldwide, rice is the most important food staple. It is grown on approximately 155 million hectares and accounts for one-fifth of the global calorie supply

Sesame Seeds

Sesame, the white gold crop, is the second most exported crop in the world after coffee, accounting for 14% of total global exports.

Sesame seed, a rich source of protein, is one of the first crops processed for oil production. Its non-culinary application includes its use as an ingredient in soap, cosmetics, lubricants and medicines.

Sweet Potato

Another value chain development  agricultural crop , sweet potatoes can be used as raw material to obtain industrialized products with higher added value. Through processing, it is possible to supply the market with various sweet potato products, such as dehydrated chips, cereals, jams, jellies, flour, pasta, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages

Maize

Maize is very important because of good source of minerals, vitamins, fiber and oil present in maize (rich in embryo). This oil is used for cooking and soap making companies. Maize starch is famous in pharmaceutical Industries as diluents and also used in cosmetics.

Sunflower

Sunflowers are considered oilseeds. Sunflowers are processed into cooking oil, meal and confectionary products. Distinct varieties are used for oil and for confectionary purposes. Meal is a byproduct of the oil is extraction process and is used primarily as an ingredient in livestock feed rations.

Wheat

The chief use of wheat is the flour for making bread biscuits, cookies, chapatti, etc. Industrially, it is used in preparation of starch, gluten, malt, and distilled spirit. Wheat bran is rich in protein and used as valuable livestock feed.

Moringa

Moringa has the potential for commercial production, either as a cash crop or as a component of agro forestry systems. The introduction of Moringa into the existing production systems will enhance food production and biodiversity and industry development from its products and by-products.

Cashew Nuts

Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL)
Both the CNSL and CNS are used as biomass fuels for clean power generation. There is a growing demand and for this CNSL due to its other multiple uses (including for: paints, laminating resins and intermediates for chemical industry)

Soya Beans

Soya is a global important crop. More than three-quarters (77%) of global soy is fed to livestock for meat and dairy production. Most of the rest is used for biofuels, industry or vegetable oils. Just 7% of soy is used directly for human food products such as tofu, soy milk, edamame beans, and tempeh.

Current Projects & Their Economic benefits to Farmers

Hunter's Global Network, through its agriculture subsidiary Farmer's Pride International, is currently training thousands of farmers on how to grow the following crops. These are Globally demanded Cross border value chain development crops. They build jobs and economies and put African land to use while establishing sustainable livelihoods for participating countries

Introduction to Potato Production

Potatoes in bags are grown as an introduction to potato farming, this project is starting as a backyard farming project but shall eventually take participants to the rural areas where there are vast tracts of land as well as to farms for serious farming to feed Africa and the world at large, this project is one of the many being implemented through its Rural and Urban Agriculture Innovative Production Program. The objective of this project is to promote and establish viable, potato farming, processing, and distribution for both domestic and international markets.

Moringa Farming

Its a gold, Its leaves are a rich source of plant protein and fibre and contain 5 essential vitamins and minerals (calcium, iron, and vitamins A, E & K). Growing moringa, therefore, provides a valuable source of nutrition, helping improve rural communities' food security. It can also be used to feed

animals.

Moringa has the potential for commercial production, either as a cash crop or as a component of agro forestry systems. The introduction of Moringa into the existing production systems will enhance food production and biodiversity and industry development from its products and by-products. It grows easily and has low maintenance. More importantly, its a $7.1 billion international market. Another fact is the continent of Africa is only providing 9% of the global supply of moringa, while it can literally grow from north to south as a commercial crop.

Hydro and Aeroponics

Hunter's Global Network through Farmer's Pride International promotes Aeroponics as a form of hydroponics; both do not use soil, but a nutrient solution to grow plants, but while hydroponics irrigates the roots of the plants with the solution, aeroponics sprays it directly onto the roots. This project includes all agriculture innovations such as horizontal and vertical farming as well as rooftop farming.

Sunflower Farming

The commercial sunflower farming business is very easy and simple and has many advantages or benefits. Sunflower is a very important oilseed crop. High-oleic cash prices are $18.80 to $19, with AOG at $18.50 per cwt. In the High Plains, NuSun AOG contracts are at $18.70, with high-oleic sunflower at $19.70 per cwt. Something else to consider is the oil premiums that crush plants pay on sunflower.

Sasame Seeds

It has been noted that sesame farming can provide employment for many people, and this can be recommended. It is a profitable business that has made many people become rich already. In fact, it is lucrative as we consider its oil, and for the fact that it is an international product.

Sesame takes 100-135 days to reach maturity and starting plants indoors a few weeks before the last frost ensures a successful harvest. Germinate plants indoors by planting seeds ¼” deep in a rich growing medium.

The seeds are dehulled and put on top of breads and buns. The seeds are also incorporated into many food products like crackers and sesame sticks. Sesame oil is also extensively used to make hair care and skin care products.

Cashew Nuts

Hunter's Global Network takes Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) farming serious as it is a money maker being  a perennial tree crop, originating from South America, and now widely grown in the tropics. Optimum cashew nut production is obtained in areas between 0 and 800 m altitude, with a temperature of 24° to 28o C, and an annual rainfall of 800 to 1,600 mm with a pronounced dry period of 5 - 7 months, and soil pH ranging from 4.5 to 6.5. Cashew is a multipurpose tree crop, from which almost all parts (roots, stem, bark, leaves, apples and nuts) are used. The nut is considered the most valuable product.
